RAVS

We love to feature other hardworking community partners, and this month’s partner is Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS).  Rural Area Veterinary Services is a non-profit veterinary outreach program combining community service and veterinary mentorship to bring free veterinary services to underserved rural communities where poverty and geographic isolation make regular veterinary care inaccessible.

While RAVS field operations are on hold until at least June 2021, they continue to work with community partners to provide essential resources including emergency dog and cat food and other animal care supplies, support for local urgent care services and community vaccination campaigns. The necessity of working around pandemic challenges and restrictions have led to new ways of supporting and collaborating with community partners remotely while fostering local resources and new projects that can help form the foundation of ongoing, sustainable local animal care services.

The Rural Area Veterinary Services program combines high quality direct-care veterinary field clinics with clinical experience for future veterinary professionals to improve the health and welfare of animals in remote rural communities. They provide care for animals in need, improve the skills of veterinarians and veterinary technicians and inspire their participation in animal protection efforts.  We are honored to feature them!
