120,000 Surgeries … That’s A Whole Lotta Saved Lives.

This is an amazing feat for any animal welfare organization, but for an organization as young as ours, we couldn’t be more proud. Northwest Spay and Neuter Center has been a free-standing high volume spay and neuter clinic only since 2008. Approximately 7 million animals enter U.S. shelters every year and half of those animals are euthanized. By reducing the number of new kittens and puppies being born, we help reduce shelter overpopulation and stop unnecessary euthanasia.

One breeding pair of cats can produce up to 400,000 new kittens over seven years. If you’re interested in figuring out how many kittens we prevent from being born, and succumb to the consequences of overpopulation, about 60% of our surgery load is cats versus dogs. It doesn’t take a math whiz to know that we are saving lives and helping pets live healthier, longer, happier lives by performing one procedure. In honor of all of the pets you love, spread the word about spay and neuter!
