After Surgery

When You Get Home
- Any special needs for your pet will be written on their discharge instructions. Please read these instructions carefully.
- Restrict your pet’s activity for 7–10 days — no running or jumping.
- Do not change your pet’s diet during recovery time.
- Do not give your pet a bath for 7–10 days. Keep your pet in a clean, dry environment during this time.
- Check the incision twice a day for redness (some redness is normal), swelling, or discharge; if you find any of these symptoms please contact us.

Additional Information
- Your pet will have a small green tattoo near the incision. Click here and scroll down to see a picture of the tattoo. (This is not an additional incision.)
- There are stitches under the skin that do not need to be removed. In addition, there is a blue-green, water-soluble tissue glue that will come off with time.
- If your pet received any vaccines or other services they will be marked on the pink sheet that was sent home with you at pick-up.
Important
- Please call our clinic if you have any questions or concerns about your pet that are related to the surgery.
